Reported

We are currently applying security updates to all affected virtualization nodes in response to CVE-2026-99999, a critical Linux kernel vulnerability that may allow a malicious virtual machine to escape the guest environment and affect the host system.

To reduce the impact on customers, all virtualization nodes are being patched and rebooted sequentially rather than simultaneously.

We initially waited for a KernelCare live patch, as this would have allowed us to mitigate the vulnerability without requiring host reboots and therefore without causing downtime for customer virtual machines. Unfortunately, a suitable live patch has not become available within a timeframe we consider acceptable given the severity of CVE-2026-99999.

We have therefore decided to proceed with the regular kernel update and reboot process immediately.

Customers should expect a service interruption of up to approximately 30 minutes while the virtualization node hosting their server is being updated and restarted.

Customers operating dedicated servers with their own virtualization stack, including KVM/QEMU-based environments, are responsible for assessing whether their systems are affected by CVE-2026-99999 and for applying the required kernel updates and reboots themselves. Dedicated servers are not included in this maintenance unless they are operated directly as part of our managed virtualization infrastructure.

We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience caused. Due to the potential guest-to-host impact of this vulnerability, we consider timely patching more important than continuing to wait for a live patch.
